দূরশিক্ষণের জয়


মাহিন মতিনের দূরশিক্ষণ কার্যক্রম জিতে নিয়েছে জাপানের 'ইয়ং সোশ্যাল এন্টারপ্রেনারশিপ অ্যাওয়ার্ড', 'তাকেদা এন্টারপ্রেনারশিপ অ্যাওয়ার্ড', 'সিটিজেন অব দ্য ইয়ার অ্যাওয়ার্ড', আমেরিকার 'ডেল সোশ্যাল ইনোভেশন অ্যাওয়ার্ড', 'লেনোভো ইনোভেশন অ্যাওয়ার্ড'সহ বেশ কিছু পুরস্কার। লিখেছেন আরাফাত শাহরিয়ার

মোটেও ভালো ছাত্র ছিলেন না। ক্লাস ফাঁকি দিতেই ভালো লাগত বেশি। ক্লাস রোল ছিল সাত। অথচ এ ছেলেটিই বড় হয়ে চান্স পেলেন ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে। আর ক্লাসের প্রথম ছয়জন পড়ে রইল গ্রামেই। বিষয়টি ভীষণ নাড়া দিল ছেলেটিকে। মেধা থাকার পরও দিকনির্দেশনার অভাবে ভালো কোনো বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে পড়ার সুযোগ পায় না গ্রামের অনেক শিক্ষার্থী। ঢাকায় এসে কোচিং করার সামর্থ্যও নেই এদের অনেকের। মেয়েদের বেলায় তো প্রশ্নই ওঠে না, ঢাকায় কোচিংয়ে পাঠাতে নারাজ বেশির ভাগ অভিভাবকই। ভাবলেন, ঢাকার সেরা শিক্ষকদের ক্লাস যদি ডিভিডিতে ধারণ করে গ্রামের শিক্ষার্থীদের মধ্যে পৌঁছে দেওয়া যায়। জাপানি বন্ধু আতসু সিকে বিষয়টি বলতেই তিনি রাজি হয়ে গেলেন। এভাবেই শুরু হলো 'ই-এডুকেশন'। এ কাজে তাঁদের সহযোগিতা করছেন জাপানের হিতোসুবাসি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অধ্যাপক ড. সিসোরিও ইউনেকরা ও জাপানের শিক্ষাপ্রযুক্তি প্রতিষ্ঠান ইতানো। মাহিন মতিনের এই দূরশিক্ষণ কার্যক্রম জিতে নিয়েছে বেশ কিছু আন্তর্জাতিক পুরস্কার।

গ্রামে বসেই সেরা শিক্ষকের ক্লাস

ঢাকার খ্যাতনামা সব কোচিংয়ের শিক্ষকদের ক্লাস-লেকচারের ভিডিও ডিভিডিতে ধারণ করে ল্যাপটপের মাধ্যমে দেখানো হচ্ছে। ক্লাসে এক লেকচার যেখানে দ্বিতীয়বার শোনার সুযোগ নেই, সেখানে প্রতিটি লেকচার শিক্ষার্থীরা বারবার ঝালিয়ে নেওয়ার সুযোগ পাচ্ছে। আর এর বিনিময়ে কোনো টাকা-পয়সা দিতে তো হচ্ছেই না; উপরন্তু মিলছে বই ও লেকচারশিট। যদিও গত বছর অনেক বেশি আবেদন পড়ায় সামান্য কিছু টোকেন মানি নিয়ে ছাত্রছাত্রী ভর্তি করা হয়েছে বলে জানালেন মাহিন। বললেন, 'আগে উচ্চ মাধ্যমিকের পরই বন্ধ হয়ে যেত বেশির ভাগ ছাত্রছাত্রীর পড়ালেখা, এখন বদলে গেছে এ চিত্র। মেয়েরাও এখন উচ্চশিক্ষা নিতে আগ্রহী হচ্ছে। কোচিংয়ের ৫০ শতাংশই মেয়ে।'

২০১০ সালে ই-এডুকেশন প্রথম শুরু হয় চাঁদপুরের হাইমচরে। শুরুর বছর ছাত্রছাত্রী ছিল ৩৫ জন। পাঁচটি ল্যাপটপের মাধ্যমে শুরু হয় পাঠদান। এখন ছাত্রছাত্রী বাড়ায় প্রজেক্টরের ব্যবস্থাও করা হয়েছে। মাহিন জানালেন, সপ্তাহে চার দিন চলে ক্লাস। সপ্তাহান্তে নেওয়া হয় পরীক্ষা। ক্লাসের সময় তদারক করেন একজন শিক্ষক। এখান থেকে কোচিং করে যাঁরা চান্স পেয়েছেন, তাঁদের অনেকেই স্বেচ্ছাসেবী শিক্ষক হিসেবে ক্লাস নেন। তাঁদের হাতে তুলে দেওয়া হয় কেবল যাতায়াত খরচ।

সাফল্যের খতিয়ান

২০১০ সালে ই-এডুকেশন চালু ছিল কেবল হাইমচরে। পরের বছর মানিকগঞ্জ, টাঙ্গাইল ও মুন্সীগঞ্জে চালু করা হয়। যদিও ২০১২ সাল থেকে চাঁদপুরের হাইমচর, পুরান বাজার, বাবুরহাট, হাজীগঞ্জে চালু আছে। ২০১০ সালে যাত্রা শুরু ৩৫ জন নিয়ে, পরের বছর ৪৫ জন। ২০১২ সালে ছাত্রছাত্রী ছিল ৩০০ এবং ২০১৩ সালে এ সংখ্যা দাঁড়ায় ৩১২ জনে। প্রথম বছর ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়, চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়, জগন্নাথ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ও কুমিল্লা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে একজন করে চান্স পেয়েছিল। জাতীয় বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে পেয়েছিল দুজন। গেল বছর ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়েই ভর্তির সুযোগ পেয়েছে ১০ জন। জগন্নাথ ও জাহাঙ্গীরনগরে দুজন করে এবং রাজশাহী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে একজন ভর্তি হয়েছে। অনেক ছাত্রছাত্রী ভর্তির সুযোগ পেয়েছে জাতীয় বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অধিভুক্ত ভালোমানের অনেক কলেজে।


ঝুলিতে যত পুরস্কার


'ই-এডুকেশন' ২০১২ সালে জেতেন মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের 'ডেল সোশ্যাল ইনোভেশন অ্যাওয়ার্ড', এটিই ছিল মাহিনের প্রথম বড় কোনো পুরস্কার। ২০১১ সালে অবশ্য জিতেছিলেন সিটিজেন ঘড়ি কম্পানির 'সিটিজেন অব দ্য ইয়ার অ্যাওয়ার্ড'। মাহিন জানান, 'ডেল ইনোভেশন অ্যাওয়ার্ডে অংশ নিয়েছিল এক হাজার ৮৯০টি প্রজেক্ট। প্রতিযোগিতা হয়েছে কয়েকটি ধাপে। অনলাইন ভোটিং, প্রেজেন্টেশন শেষে চূড়ান্ত পর্বে অংশ নেওয়ার সুযোগ পেয়েছিল শীর্ষ ৪০টি দল। এর মধ্যে চুলচেরা বিচার-বিশ্লেষণের মাধ্যমে পুরস্কৃত হয় তিনটি প্রজেক্ট। এটা আমার জন্য অনেক বড় অর্জন।'

২০১৩ সালে মাহিন ঝুলিতে পুরেছেন সবচেয়ে বেশি পুরস্কার। এগুলো হলো জাপানের 'ইয়ং সোশ্যাল এন্টারপ্রেনারশিপ অ্যাওয়ার্ড', 'তাকেদা এন্টারপ্রেনারশিপ অ্যাওয়ার্ড', 'ওয়াইইএ বিজনেস প্ল্যান অ্যাওয়ার্ড' ও আমেরিকার 'লেনোভো ইনোভেশন অ্যাওয়ার্ড'।

ইয়ং সোশ্যাল এন্টারপ্রেনারশিপ, ওয়াইইএ ও লেনোভো ইনোভেশন অ্যাওয়ার্ডে প্রতিযোগিতার ধরন ছিল প্রায় একই রকম, আবেদন করা হয়েছিল অনলাইনে। 'তাকেদা এন্টারপ্রেনারশিপ প্রতিযোগিতা ছিল একটু জটিল। অনলাইন সিলেকশনের পর ছিল ভোটিং। ভোটিং শেষে ওরাল প্রেজেন্টেশন, এর পর চূড়ান্ত প্রেজেন্টেশন। পুরস্কারটা আসে শিক্ষা ক্যাটাগরিতে। প্রতিযোগী ছিল প্রায় ৬০০।' জানান মাহিন।

একই আদলে বিশ্বব্যাংকের প্রকল্প

সম্প্রতি বিশ্বব্যাংকের অর্থায়নে বাংলাদেশের বিভিন্ন স্কুলে শুরু হয়েছে 'ই-সায়েন্স' নামে নতুন একটি প্রকল্প। এতে নগরীর সেরা সেরা স্কুলের খ্যাতনামা শিক্ষকদের ক্লাস লেকচার ভিডিও করে গ্রামের বিজ্ঞানের ছাত্রছাত্রীদের পাঠদান করা হচ্ছে। এতে সহায়তা করছে শিক্ষা মন্ত্রণালয়ের সেকেন্ডারি এডুকেশন কোয়ালিটি অ্যান্ড অ্যাকসেস এনহান্সমেন্ট প্রকল্প- এসইকিউএইপি। বিশ্বব্যাংকের এ প্রকল্পে কনসালট্যান্ট হিসেবে কাজের সুযোগ পেয়েছেন মাহিন। 'দেশের ছয়টি স্কুলে শুরু হয়েছে পাইলট প্রকল্প। জুন থেকে এটি চালু হবে ৬০টি স্কুলে। সফল হলে পরবর্তী শিক্ষাবর্ষে এটি চালু হবে ১১ হাজার স্কুলে। আমাদের কাজ হচ্ছে কনটেন্ট ডেভেলপ আর এ প্রকল্প বাস্তবায়নে সহযোগিতা করা। আমরা নবম-দশম শ্রেণির পদার্থ, রসায়ন, জীববিজ্ঞান ও গণিতের কনটেন্ট তৈরি করেছি। সব মিলিয়ে ২৮০ ঘণ্টার কনটেন্ট থাকছে এতে।' জানালেন মাহিন।

নানা প্রতিবন্ধকতা পেরিয়ে

ভিডির সাহায্যে ক্লাস করছে ছাত্রীরা

কাজ করতে গিয়ে নানা প্রতিবন্ধতার মুখোমুখি হতে হয়েছে। ডিভিডির মাধ্যমে যে ক্লাস করা যায়, শুরুর দিকে ছাত্রছাত্রীদের এটা বোঝাতে অনেক কষ্ট হয়েছে। শুরুতে দলের সদস্যরাও বুঝতেন না বিষয়টা। আর্থিক সংকটও ছিল। মাহিন বললেন, 'মাঝেমধ্যে আর্থিক সংকট এমন দাঁড়াত, মনে হতো এ কার্যক্রম বন্ধ করে দিই। বাধা আসত পরিবার থেকেও। কিন্তু আমি কারো বারণ মানিনি। বুঝতে পেরেছিলাম, এটা অনেক ভালো একটা কাজ হবে। গ্রামের একটি ছেলেও যদি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে ভর্তির সুযোগ পায়, তাহলে তার পরিবারটাই বদলে যাবে।'

নিজেও যখন ছাত্র

মাহিনের বাবা সৈয়দ আহমেদ শেখ বাহরাইনে চাকরি করতেন। মা মরিয়ম আকতার গৃহিণী। তিনি বলেন, 'ছেলেবেলায় দারুণ ফাঁকিবাজ ছিল মাহিন। স্কুল ফাঁকি দেওয়ায় প্রায়ই মার খেত। মারের ভয়ে কোনো কোনো রাতে বাড়ি ফিরত না, কাটিয়ে দিত বাড়ির সামনের প্রাথমিক বিদ্যালয়ে।'

ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ডেভেলপমেন্ট স্টাডিজ বিভাগ থেকে মাস্টার্সের পাট চুকিয়েছেন আগেই। এখন মনবুকাগাকাশো স্কলারশিপ নিয়ে জাপানের হিতসুবিশি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে পাবলিক পলিসি বিষয়ে মাস্টার্স করছেন মাহিন। থেমে নেই তাঁর কাজ। 'কিছুদিন পর এইচএসসি পরীক্ষা শেষে শুরু হয়ে যাবে কোচিং। আরো বেশি ছাত্রছাত্রী যাতে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে চান্স পায়, এটাই আমাদের টার্গেট।'

মাহিন এরই মধ্যে প্রতিষ্ঠা করেছেন ব্যাকবোন ফাউন্ডেশন নামের একটি প্রতিষ্ঠান, যেটি জাপানের বেসরকারি সংস্থা

'ই-এডুকেশন'-এর বাংলাদেশি সহযোগী হিসেবে কাজ করছে। গত বছর আউটসোর্সিং বিষয়ে ৪০ জন নারীকে প্রশিক্ষণ দিয়েছে মাহিনের ব্যাকবোন ফাউন্ডেশন।

স্বপ্ন আরো বড়

মাহিন স্বপ্ন দেখেন সুন্দর এক বাংলাদেশের, যেখানে গ্রামের ছেলেমেয়েরাও শিক্ষার সমান সুযোগ পাবে, কোনো বৈষম্য থাকবে না। বাংলাদেশের ছাত্রছাত্রীরা যাতে বিশ্বের উন্নত দেশগুলোতে উচ্চশিক্ষা নিতে পারে, তা নিয়েও কাজ করতে চান তিনি। একটি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রতিষ্ঠার স্বপ্নও দেখেন মাহিন, যেখানে পাঠদান করা হবে বিশ্বের নামিদামি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষকদের ক্লাস ডিভিডিতে ধারণের মাধ্যমে।

আবু সা'ঈদ খুদরী [রা:] থেকে বণির্ত । তিনি রাসুলুল্লাহ [সা:]কে বলতে শুনেছেন যে, তোমরা কেউ পছন্দনীয় স্বপ্ন দেখলে তা আল্লাহর পক্ষ থেকে, সুতরাং সে যেন আল্লাহর প্রশংসা করে এবং প্রিয়জনদের কাছে বলে । অপর বণর্নায় আছে সে যেন প্রিয়জন ছাড়া করো কাছে না বলে । আর অপছন্দনীয় স্বপ্ন দেখলে তা শয়তানের পক্ষ থেকে, সুতরাং সে যেন তার অনিষ্ট থেকে আল্লাহর আশ্রয় প্রথর্না করে এবং কারো কাছে না বলে । তাহলে তা তার কোন ক্ষতি সাধন করতে পারবে না । [বুখারী-৬৯৮৫]
